Their combined wealth is estimated at ₹10,77,100 crore. Hyderabad alone accounts for ₹10,03,800 crore, or 93.2% of the total.

Hyderabad accounts for bulk of Telangana’s rich-list wealth

The list identifies 120 residents of Telangana with combined wealth of ₹10,27,100 crore. Andhra Pradesh has 14 entrants with aggregate wealth of ₹50,000 crore.

Telangana has 27 dollar billionaires, compared with one in Andhra Pradesh. The rankings, released on September 23, are based on wealth calculations as of August 24, 2026. The national list covers 1,810 people with wealth of at least ₹1,000 crore each.

Hyderabad has 114 rich-list residents and 26 dollar billionaires. It is the fourth-largest Indian city by number of entrants, after Mumbai, New Delhi and Bengaluru. With aggregate wealth of ₹10,03,800 crore, it ranks fifth among cities by wealth.

The city accounts for 95% of Telangana’s rich-list entrants and 97.7% of its total listed wealth. The rest of Telangana has six entrants with combined wealth of ₹23,300 crore and one dollar billionaire.

Hyderabad has more than eight times as many entrants as Andhra Pradesh and about 20 times the wealth of the entire state. Its 26 dollar billionaires also compare with just one in Andhra Pradesh.

Hyderabad accounts for 6.3% of all individuals on the national list and 5.35% of their combined wealth. The two Telugu states together account for 7.4% of India’s rich-list entrants and 5.74% of the total wealth covered by the report.

Seven Hyderabad residents feature in national Top 100

Seven Hyderabad residents have made it to the national Top 100. Murali Divi and family of Divi’s Laboratories lead the city and the two Telugu states with wealth of ₹1,25,400 crore. They are ranked 13th nationally.

P Pitchi Reddy of Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited is ranked 52nd with ₹53,100 crore. MEIL managing director PV Krishna Reddy is ranked 54th with ₹52,100 crore.

Sridhar Pinnapureddy and family of CtrlS Datacentres are ranked 62nd with ₹46,100 crore. PV Ramprasad Reddy of Aurobindo Pharma is ranked 67th with ₹39,900 crore.

B Parthasaradhi Reddy and family of Hetero Labs are ranked 70th with ₹39,400 crore. Surender Pal Singh Saluja and family of Premier Energies are ranked 91st with ₹35,200 crore.

Together, the seven account for ₹3,91,200 crore, or 39% of Hyderabad’s total rich-list wealth.

Pharma and infrastructure lead wealth creation in city

Pharmaceuticals remain the largest established source of wealth among Hyderabad’s top business families. Murali Divi, PV Ramprasad Reddy and B Parthasaradhi Reddy together account for ₹2,04,700 crore.

Infrastructure is the second major bloc. MEIL promoters P Pitchi Reddy and PV Krishna Reddy together account for ₹1,05,200 crore.

The 2026 list also shows wealth emerging from data centres, artificial intelligence, solar manufacturing, defence electronics, private space and biotechnology.

Sridhar Pinnapureddy is the second-largest new entrant nationally and the wealthiest new entrant among India-based residents. Hurun has classified CtrlS Datacentres under artificial intelligence, with Pinnapureddy and his family valued at ₹46,100 crore.

Premier Energies’ Surender Pal Singh Saluja and family account for another ₹35,200 crore from green energy. The company’s presence in the Top 100 places solar manufacturing alongside Hyderabad’s established pharmaceutical and infrastructure businesses.

Beyond the Top 100, the report identifies Mahima Datla and family of Biological E among India’s five wealthiest biotechnology entrepreneurs, with wealth of ₹25,200 crore. Krishna Murthy Ella and family of Bharat Biotech are valued at ₹11,000 crore.

Karunakar Reddy Baddam and family of Hyderabad-based Apollo Micro Systems enter the list with ₹7,500 crore. They are the wealthiest new entrants from the aerospace and defence sector named in the report.

Skyroot Aerospace co-founder Pawan Kumar Chandana enters with ₹3,200 crore. Skyroot, which builds launch vehicles in Hyderabad, is one of two aerospace and defence companies represented in Hurun’s table of new entrants from frontier technology sectors.

These four Hyderabad-linked entrepreneurs account for another ₹46,900 crore. Their presence adds data centres, artificial intelligence, solar manufacturing, biotechnology, aerospace and defence to the city’s established wealth sectors.

Overseas residents add Hyderabad-linked business connections

The list also includes Hyderabad connections among overseas residents. Microsoft chairman and CEO Satya Nadella, who is originally from Hyderabad, is valued at ₹10,600 crore in Hurun’s ranking of professional managers. As he is a US resident, his wealth is not counted under Telangana.

Raj Sardana, founder of Innova Solutions, is a new entrant with wealth of ₹21,600 crore and lives in Atlanta. His company has its India headquarters in Kokapet, Hyderabad. This is a business-location connection and does not make him a Telangana resident or a Telugu-origin entrant in the state-wise count.

Andhra roots behind several Hyderabad-based fortunes

The geographical classification in the Hurun report is based primarily on residence. It does not fully capture the Andhra origins or cross-state operations of several Hyderabad business families.

Murali Divi has roots in Andhra Pradesh, while Divi’s Laboratories is headquartered in Hyderabad. The company operates manufacturing units in Telangana and a major active pharmaceutical ingredient complex near Visakhapatnam.

MEIL promoters P Pitchi Reddy and PV Krishna Reddy are based in Hyderabad but trace their roots to Dokiparru in Krishna district. Their combined fortune of ₹1,05,200 crore is counted under Hyderabad and Telangana rather than Andhra Pradesh.

PV Ramprasad Reddy, an Andhra-born entrepreneur, co-founded Aurobindo Pharma in Hyderabad. Sridhar Pinnapureddy is also an Andhra-origin entrepreneur whose data-centre business was built and headquartered in Hyderabad.

Another Andhra-linked name in the national Top 100 is Krishna Chivukula and family of INDO-MIM. Chivukula, who has roots in Bapatla district, is ranked 80th with wealth of ₹37,500 crore. As his residence is listed as Bengaluru, he is counted under Karnataka rather than Andhra Pradesh.

These connections show that a residence-based comparison does not capture the wider Telugu-origin business presence. A classification based on birthplace, family origin or principal business operations would produce a larger Telugu business cohort than the 134 residents counted in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Pradesh has 14 rich-list residents

In Andhra Pradesh, the report names N Visweswara Reddy and family as the state’s wealthiest residents. Reddy is the founder of Kadapa-based Shirdi Sai Electricals, with interests in transformers, power infrastructure and solar manufacturing.

The ₹50,000-crore figure shown against Andhra Pradesh is the combined wealth of all 14 entrants. It is not Visweswara Reddy’s individual wealth. The press release does not provide his separate valuation.

The Andhra Pradesh list has grown by two entrants to 14, according to the 2026 chart. The state has moved up one position by the number of entrants but remains 14th nationally by aggregate wealth.

Hurun figures show inconsistencies in year-on-year comparisons

Some figures in the Hurun data require clarification. The 2026 chart lists Hyderabad at 114 entrants, with a year-on-year addition of eight. The published 2025 list had placed Hyderabad at 102, which would indicate an increase of 12.

Telangana is shown at 120 entrants, with an addition of seven, while the 2025 report had recorded 109. A direct comparison gives an increase of 11.

Hurun’s methodology says some previous-year comparisons were restated after family holdings were split among individual members. It does not specify whether the geographical bases for Hyderabad and Telangana were also revised.

There is also a rank variation involving Sridhar Pinnapureddy. The main Top 100 table places him at 62, while the table on new entrants to the Top 100 gives his position as 63.

The press release contains the national Top 100 and selected thematic tables. It does not provide the complete names and individual fortunes of Telangana’s 120 entrants or Andhra Pradesh’s 14.
A complete assessment of the Telugu states’ wealth profile will require the state-wise list and clarification from Hurun on the revised comparative figures.

LaunchesEnglish
Hyundai has finally revealed some of the details for its Bayon SUV. The Bayon will be above 4m, as we had also said, being 4.2m in length, and will have a 1.5 NA petrol engine, which will come either with a 6-speed manual gearbox or an iVT automatic or CVT. Bookings have started at Rs 11,000.

The car is also based on the Global K enhanced platform. More details would be spilled later regarding a possible CNG option as well.

Hyundai Bayon Size And Positioning

The Bayon, being 4.2m in length, means it will be above 4m and will be competing in the compact SUV space. The Bayon will be the second 4m-plus SUV after the Creta, while not taking into account the Alcazar.

The car has been engineered for a 5-star safety rating as well.

Hyundai Bayon Design

Design-wise, we can see the H-pattern lighting, the sharp lines and the large Bayon lettering. There would be slim LED lighting all around as well.

The Bayon would be an important product and would be placed in the heart of the 4m-plus SUV space. The 4m-plus SUV space is the most contested in terms of launches and is competitive as well, with the widest choice for the Indian car buyer.

Hyundai Bayon Engine And Features

The Creta is the best-selling SUV there, and the Bayon will be expected to close the gap between the Venue and the Creta. However, the Bayon will be focused on more practicality while not getting a turbo petrol like the Creta.

The Bayon certainly looks sharp and radical, while we can expect the cabin to be tech-focused as well, with an AI assistant and more.

More details would be revealed soon for the Hyundai Bayon.

Future MissionsEnglishOn a late Saturday morning when we stepped out as a family, the intention was to go for brunch. But, like always with varied preferences, we went from coffee to lunch and ended up at Ela Matcha. After lunch at Vellakanthari, a restaurant known for its delectable section of spicy seafood, the group craved for something cold and refreshing – the heat contributed to the feeling. After shooting down ice cream and a Google search later, we were right at Ela Matcha’s doorstep. Now, Kochi has quite a thriving cafe culture. And, while matcha has found a mention on the menu of some cafes, an exclusive matcha bar is a first. A Cafe Izakaya Rooted In Kerala The space itself is very grounded, with casement windows, red oxide flooring and exposed brick walls. In the words of the founder Rachel David, “The space is a cross between an izakaya and a chayakada or tea shop.” Izakaya is a Japanese term for a casual space where people meet to eat small shareable plates. “Recreating the warmth of a community is what I hope for,” says the Bengaluru born and raised entrepreneur. “The setting of a cafe allows people to be vulnerable; the feeling is different from a bar or a restaurant. Cafés are very casual; a place where I could be myself. My mom would say, instead of spending money at coffee shops, it would be better to start a cafe of your own. Ela Matcha was opened so that people could meet, come together, form communities,” she says. "Growing up in Bengaluru, I used to love going to a cafe . Sometimes it was because I had a bad day, I could sit at a cafe, read or journal. It gave me some peace, a sense of belonging, while being on my own. I would frequent cafes in the neighbourhood like Cafe Coffee Day, which was a rage at the time; The Cake House and Story Coffee would be a favourite hangout for group studies or just catching up with friends. Currently me and my friends love Cooper+Cloves – it’s become my go to.” The matcha bar also serves accompaniments like rose cookies (achappams) and beetroot chips and banana chips (at no charge) with the matcha. “Because, when people come home, to any home in Kerala, we mostly serve these snacks when someone visits us,” she says. Even when a groom’s family comes to meet with the family of his future bride, the ice breaker is a beverage. People just sit together around tea and snacks, and talk,” Rachel says, stating one of the reasons she chose to have shared benches and stools and not a typical cafe setting. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ela Matcha (@ela.matcha) The name Ela or leaf in Malayalam comes from when Rachel was having an Onam sadya or feast about two years ago. “The banana leaf I was eating on kept tearing. This was also around the time I was brainstorming for a matcha cafe or a matcha bar. And I thought, why not call it Ela because matcha is essentially made from a leaf.” About two years ago, in 2024, Rachel started with selling Matcha tea powder in pop-up stores at malls in Bengaluru. “But then I wanted to introduce matcha to people the way I was having it – with flavours inspired from my South Indian, Malayalee roots like coconut and jaggery, filter coffee, Kerala vanilla and more. And that’s when I finally decided to open a matcha bar.” Ela Matcha opened in Bengaluru in March and opened an outlet in Kochi on his September. It is a no-frills menu with offerings limited to varietals of matcha and hojicha or roasted matcha. On the day I visited Ela Matcha for the first time, I tried the hojicha matcha with jaggery and the bluepea matcha. The matcha notes were just right, the drink wasn’t too sweet and the notes of bluepea didn't undermine the flavour of the matcha; matcha, Rachel sources from the Shizouka region in Japan. “I would someday like to source matcha from Assam,” she says. Assam became the first Indian state to produce authentic matcha green tea, for commercial purposes in July 2026. The Hojicha drink had matcha undertones present, but with a hint of nuttiness. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ela Matcha (@ela.matcha) In a quest to zero-in on more ways to serve up matcha, she travelled to Dubai, the US, Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand, and found that each place had a distinct way of serving it. For example, “in the US, one would have the option of having a collagen add-on to the matcha latte; while in Dubai, the drink was too sweet and in Vietnam, the drink contained coconut milk.” Rachel says she was more excited than nervous to start Ela Matcha. “When it came to coffee, we had our instant coffee like Bru, Sunrise; later came the americano and cappuccino. And now we have specialty coffee, with consumers being more aware of the origin of the bean, its roast, strength of the coffee, whether it is a pour over, aeropress or a French press and so on. And that’s what I hope to do with matcha by starting this space,” she says. ELLE Gourmet's Verdict On the day I met Rachel, I tried the cinnamon matcha, which was surprisingly delicious; considering personally, I feel tea and cinnamon don’t go well, if the flavouring isn’t done right. But, here, the balance between the matcha and cinnamon went well. While the matcha stood out, the subtle taste of cinnamon took it to another level. Matcha tends to be an acquired taste. But, Ela Matcha is a great place for a novice to explore its flavours. So, Kochiites or visitors to the city, head to Ela Matcha for a different, yet delightful take on matcha.
